Video Production Manager

NicePermanentGreenbull Group

About Brainlab

Brainlab is a creative agency based in Nice and part of Greenbull Group. The agency comes up with and produces videos for the brands it works with: performance-driven ads, social media content and, more and more, awareness campaigns. It works with well-known brands as well as athletes. Its Creative and Social Media teams take care of every project, from the idea to the final video.

Why this role

The Creative and Social Media teams design and produce videos for the brands Brainlab works with: performance-driven ads, social media content and, more and more, awareness campaigns.

Today, the head of the Creative team handles the creative strategy, a large share of the shoots and their organisation. The volume is growing, and the first more ambitious projects are starting to come in.

That’s why we are hiring a Video Production Manager on a permanent contract!

This role takes charge of production, camera included, so the teams can grow.

Day to day, the role is mostly performance ads and social media content, shot fast and often on small budgets. Bigger projects with more budget are coming in gradually: you’ll be there to lead them.

What you’ll do

You turn approved scripts into delivered videos. You’re out on set most of the time: you shoot, direct and edit, as well as organising and managing.

1. Organise the shoots

  • Plan the shoots and post-production for every ongoing project, taking the team’s availability into account.
  • Prepare each shoot: scouting, locations, permits, casting, equipment, call sheet, shot list.
  • Find solutions when resources are tight: small budget, short deadline, fixed location, last-minute surprises on the day.

2. Shoot, direct, edit

  • Shoot a large share of the content yourself: framing, lighting, sound.
  • Direct: turn a creative intention into images and direct the people on camera (actors, clients, content creators).
  • Edit some of the videos yourself, and give feedback on those handled by the editors.
  • Adapt the direction to the use: a performance ad must hook in the first seconds, social content must feel native to the platform, a brand film must leave a mark.

3. Manage the production team

  • Build and run a network of reliable freelancers: camera operators, editors, sound engineers, make-up artists, extra hands.
  • Give editing feedback up to the version sent for approval.

4. Keep to budgets

  • Build a project’s production budget from the signed quote.
  • Track the spending on each shoot and protect the project’s margin.
  • Decide between in-house, freelance and equipment rental.

5. Prepare to move upmarket

  • Lead the first more ambitious projects as they come in: more shooting days, a bigger team, more budget.
  • Choose the equipment and working methods (filming, sound, lighting, footage management, delivery).
  • Write down the production processes so the team runs without depending on one person.

Your profile

Above all, we’re looking for an eye and resourcefulness. The rest can be learned with us, and an unusual background may well surprise us.

What we expect

  • You can shoot and edit yourself: it’s a big part of the job.
  • An eye: a portfolio that shows a real point of view, even on small or personal projects.
  • Resourcefulness: finding a solution when the location, deadline or budget don’t follow.
  • The drive to take over the organisation of shoots and, over time, a small team.

A real plus

  • Experience in an agency, a production company or as a freelancer.
  • You have already organised a shoot from start to finish.
  • You have already directed someone on a shoot, even occasionally.
  • You know the codes of social media: vertical formats, hooks, content that feels native.
  • You have worked on performance ads or awareness campaigns.
  • A network of freelancers on the French Riviera.

What won’t work

  • A purely organisational profile that no longer wants to hold the camera or edit.
  • A purely logistical profile with no creative eye.
  • A purely artistic profile that wants no schedule, no budget and no team.

What Brainlab offers

  • A production role that stays on set, with a team, a budget and a clear scope for decisions.
  • Varied projects: performance ads, social media content, shoots with athletes and well-known brands, first awareness campaigns.
  • A role that grows with the agency: bigger projects are coming, and you’ll be on the front line to lead them and shape how we produce.
  • Creative strategy upstream: you receive well-thought-out concepts and scripts, not vague requests.
  • Salary from €32K gross per year + variable.
  • Full-time permanent contract, starting as soon as possible.

Benefits

  • A Ticket Restaurant meal card.
  • Swile perks in many shops.
  • Health insurance 100% covered by the company.
  • Brand-new offices.
  • A buddy system to help you settle in.
  • And plenty more!
